Nathan Chen as u.s Figure skater new record

The United States' Nathan Chen is on a path for redemption.

All eyes were on the United States' Nathan Chen at the 2022 Winter Olympics on Friday

He recorded the second-highest short program score ever while skating in the team event.

His success came as U.S. figure skaters got off to a strong start in the event

Chen's showing at the Capital Indoor Stadium with his "La Boheme" program clenched a season-high international score

Chen took top spot in the men's short program with 111.71 points.

As a team, the United States is in first place with 28 points.
